Laurent Vaginay, Kevin Laussu, art historian Malaye ! Patrimoines, are pleased to present this contemporary house located a short distance from the historic center of Dax. Rich in a two-millennium history, the Saubagnacq district has recently experienced notable expansion. Nestled between the Adour and its alluvial plains, this rural locality still preserves remarkable farmhouses among the oldest built traces of the Dax agglomeration. Connected to the nearby reed beds, it enjoys the last agricultural spaces of the commune. This contemporary house at the edge of a field was designed by Dax-based architect Claire Desqueyroux. Its complex volume describes an organic plan housed around a swimming pool, resulting in two very different façades. The first is relatively closed, facing east toward the property entrance and adorned with plantings. Meticulously laid out, the path from the gate to the porch consists of a paved area leading to a carport. The second facade, largely glazed, opens to the west. It emphasizes a stepped, multi-level arrangement beyond a terrace overlooking the pool. A summer kitchen is installed in a low-return wing offering a pleasant view of the basin. Interior-wise, the focus is on the main living spaces: living room and dining room arranged on two different levels. Brightness is an essential component of this open-space area. Light comes from the windows, naturally, but also from the skylight above the staircase. This soft lighting enhances the exceptionally minimalist mineral floor space. Distinction with the technical and night areas is marked even in the house plan by a central partition wall. The parquet floor is favored in harmony with wooden joinery. The atmosphere in these spaces is more subdued and intimate. The master suite occupies an unusually generous area for a project of this magnitude. It is connected to two bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes arranged in carefully integrated rows. The upper level is devoted to three childrens bedrooms. The rooms feature an atypical layout enhanced by sloping rooflines. There is a sense of breathing space and soaring lines. As on the ground floor, there is a bathroom with a polychrome decor. This residence with clean lines stands out for a multitude of refined details such as the cable-stayed metal guardrails, pergolas, the stained glass on the entrance door, and the floor coverings. Well maintained, it enjoys a lush garden enclosed by a stone wall. It includes a pétanque area next to a few fine olive trees. A pleasant place, preferably for a large family.
