Cabeceiras de Basto is a Portuguese village located in the sub-region of Ave, belonging to the region of Minho and the district of Braga. It is the seat of the Municipality of Cabeceiras de Basto, which has a total area of 241.82 km2, 15,560 inhabitants in 2021 and a population density of 64 inhabitants per km2, subdivided into 12 parishes. The municipality is bordered to the north by the municipality of Montalegre, to the northeast by Boticas, to the east by Ribeira de Pena, to the southeast by Mondim de Basto, to the south by Celorico de Basto, to the west by Fafe and to the northwest by Vieira do Minho. The highest point in the municipality is located in Serra da Cabreira, more precisely in Alto das Torrinheiras, at 1197 meters of altitude.
