Vittel, Lorraine 88800

In the Vosges, south of Vittel, a 19th-century wine merchant's residence and its garden along the riverbank. The building, at the heart of the village, stands at the foot of the remnants of the old feudal castle and faces the traces of troglodyte cellars. Its remarkable, authentic façade overlooks the street from its sandstone steps, with a double wrought-iron ramp. To the south, it opens onto a terrace overlooking the walled garden, bordered by the Saône along its entire length with no overlooked views. The building extends with several outbuildings roofed with tiles, including a workshop, a garage, and an old service dwelling, a wood shed, a stable, and an old bread oven.
