The skylight... An exceptional place that will not leave anyone indifferent! There is no doubt you will fall under the charm of this incredible site, as have all those who have had the pleasure and luck to display their canvases, creations, collections, and fabrics here over the centuries. Today, its fortunate owner and I hope a refined new project will find its place here, whether artistic, gastronomic, bistronomic, or commercial. Its Gascon architecture, probably dating from the Middle Ages, adds a historic, authentic touch and a soul. Its location in the heart of a village as old as Saint-Clar whose foundations go back to the 13th century facing the wooden-pillared market hall, makes this ensemble a privileged place overlooking one of the most beautiful arcades of the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville. This picturesque village hosted many skilled craftsmen who worked leather, fabrics, wood, stone, metal, and grain. This building was even a famous haberdashery at the beginning of the 20th century. One of its talented owners himself built the pulley system that lifts the grand brass chandelier illuminating the entrance hall, thus providing natural and subdued light to all floors. This central element, this atypical architecture are fully enhanced by an incredible scenography. On the ground floor: From our arrival, on the Southwest side, our gaze falls on the magnificent metal spiral staircase, sweeping the very bright room with its display windows, its half-moon glass entrance... And rises to the large brass chandelier and the wooden catwalk that adorn this skylight across the three levels. A second staircase leads to an first cellar equipped with a well. Next to this large hall (50 m²), there are a kitchen area, a second glazed entrance, and a beautiful display window, facing Southwest, access to a second cellar (equipped with the system for the ground-floor underfloor heating), then a hallway, a pantry and separate toilets. A perfect space for any type of activity! On the first floor: The spiral staircase leads to this magnificent gallery with a downward-view onto the shop, where one can glimpse the imposing and charming haberdashery display case and reaches two Southwest-facing rooms. The railing surrounding the skylight is enhanced with carved balusters (with alternating male and female head feet) and tall supports that once surely held the haberdasherys tapes, fabrics, and ribbons. A second staircase, from the ground-floor landing, guides us to a landing, a shower room with toilet, a dining room and an integrated kitchen. On the second floor (with half-timbering and lime plaster): From this second landing with a platform, one can climb to a mezzanine where children will love to play... Or head down a corridor with a shower room, then to a third bedroom and a mansard living room of 53 m² overlooking the village square. Via this, one accesses the final room: the technical room that houses the pulley system of the chandelier and the storage shelves. The floors are heated by an air/air heat pump. The joinery on both floors is double-glazed. The shutters have been redone and repainted. The roof, made of tiles and fiber cement, is in good condition.
