Near Loches, in a historic town of Touraine, a former abbey residence registered MH, with its walled garden and canal. At the center of the town, the MH-listed house likely dates from the 14th century. It was the dwelling of a Benedictine abbey, whose 18th-century buildings still face it. Raised on two levels, the building features a high, broad gable with rounded ends, adorned with a Montpellier horn, and its stone corbeling. The slate roof is characteristic of 15th- and 16th-century construction. The main façade, perpendicular to the street, opens onto the garden, accessible via a gateway. The windows vary in size and two square turrets flank the edifice. One of the two is crowned with a four-sloped slate roof. On the street side, an old wing is built in cut stone masonry, under a single-pitched roof with flat tiles. The north façade and the gable facing the canal, also with rounded ends, appear to have been modified in the 17th century, with three large openings per level made to harmonize with a « new » wing from the same period, in return, and which today is a separate property. A small canal borders the property.
