One hour west of Paris, on the border of Eure and Yvelines, an imposing contemporary manor house and its garden of more than 1 hectare. Built at the center of the park, at the end of a path lined with apple trees, the residence consists of a main body and two asymmetrical wings set back at right angles. Raised on two levels and flanked by two square towers, the dwelling is punctuated by numerous bays and capucine dormers. The building is organized around a courtyard paved with large slabs, where a heated swimming pool is laid out. The roofs are made of flat tiles, surmounted by ceramic glazed ridge ornaments depicting animals. These ornaments come from the Mesnil-de-Bavent pottery, a renowned Norman manufacturer. The facades are in fieldstone, enhanced with Vosges sandstone around the openings and at the corner joints; gutters and downpipes are in copper. Part of the construction materials comes from the former farm that occupied the site in the past: the stones, tiles, and framework were recovered, sorted, and reused. The north wing includes a barn of about 100 m² with an automatic door. In the garden, near the bank, a brick house of about 50 m², two stories high, currently serves as storage.
