In the historic center of Gaillac, a dynamic town in the Southwest, a 19th-century family house, its walled garden, cellars and wine chais. Built in 1827, the former urban winery property is organized around a spacious paved courtyard, accessible via a long covered passage crossing the old outbuildings. Behind a tall carriage entrance, the whole forms an island comprising the main dwelling and several annexed buildings, bearing witness to the wine activity once carried out on the premises. The dwelling, raised on three levels, features a sober and harmonious architecture, characteristic of Gaillac bourgeois homes of the 19th century. The plastered façades reveal locally brick in places, while the openings are rhythmically set with wooden shutters. The main entrance is topped by a wrought-iron transom bearing the construction year, opening onto a long corridor that traverses the property and connects the courtyard to the garden. Around the courtyard and garden lie nearly 550 m² of outbuildings, including old chais, cellars, sheds and a garage, as well as the former apartments of the managers, now to be restored. The whole sits on a plot of about 1,300 m², of which nearly 500 m² are occupied by a walled garden. Rare for its size, urban location and conservation level, the property is one of the last testimonies of the large urban wine residences that contributed to Gaillacs prosperity.
